*Historian/writer Marsh Pivirotto passed away on Feb 2, 2005.  Pivirotto, 68, of Pittsburgh, PA,
was a long time columnist and reporter for Racing’s Perfect Magazine and the weekly trade
paper RPM Racing News. Pivirotto spotlighted the history of the sport and the drivers who
populated the early days of racing.  “It is a great loss to the racing community, ” stated Dave
Kittey, co-editor and co-publisher of RPM Racing News. “Marsh kept the past alive with his
many stories of drivers and tracks from the 50's & 60's. Marsh was our historian on western PA
racing and when we lose someone like him we lose a part of our heritage.  I always enjoyed
talking to Marsh about the history of our sport. It was fun to listen to stories about many of the
drivers that I knew but was not old enough to meet and talk with. I'm sure some of the fans of
today may not care about the past in racing but there are still many of us who do and he kept the
memories alive.  RPM has lost more than a writer, we have lost a friend.”  Pivirotto was in the
transport field and served in the United States Armed Forces. He leaves behind a wife, Barb.
Pivirotto was active in the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club for many years and was active in that
organization’s Nostalgia Nights programs. Pivirotto started his motorsports writing career for
Don Gamble’s Racing’s Perfect Magazine and then moved over with Dave Kittey and Dr.
David Horne’s weekly trade paper, RPM Racing News when they purchased the magazine and
revamped it into a weekly trade publication 12 years ago.   Cards can be sent to: Barb Pivirotto,
