*Well, it's hard to believe that the KID who started out behind the counter at the legendary
Flanders Company (the leading manufacturer and distributor for Motorcycle Handlebars
since the 40's), is turning 60!  And Flanders Company is still going strong!  Please read
what a nice note Doug Stokes from California's Irwindale Speedway has written about
Bruce Flanders!  Having known Flanders for over 40 years, I take special pride in the fact
that I conned him into attending and later announcing his first CRA Sprint Car Race at
ASCOT PARK in Gardena California.  Don't know what happened but Bruce went on to
announce many more CRA events and even married the Daughter of a CRA Sprint Car
Racer years later!  If you want to talk about Speedway Bikes, or Motorcycle Flat Track
Racing or add Enduros, Flanders will hold his own!  He outshines many with his knowledge
of the over 25 years of Long Beach GP (even some of those who have come and gone on
the big dollar payroll).  If you want a bit of history on Radio Commercials or Voice Overs
Flanders has been at it from writing the script to canning the sound.  Don't forget the
movies he's been in.....Yep, 60 years gives a man a few days to hone his skills!  Happy
  Birthday Flanders.............enjoy!   (Pattie Prestidge Frost)

*The Stirling Moss Scrapbook 1955: A Unique Insight into Stirling Moss’s Brilliant Break-
through Year, by Philip Porter.  Porter Press International, PO Box 2, Tenbury Wells, WR15
  8XX, UK  Tel: +44 (0)1584 781588, Fax: +44 (0)1584 781630, www.stirlingmossbooks.com
or info@stirlingmossbooks.com.  For Stirling Moss, 1955 was the breakthrough year. After
showing great promise and patriotically persevering with uncompetitive British cars, he joined
the all-conquering Mercedes-Benz team to partner with World Champion Juan Fangio.  It
was to be a brilliant year full of heroic victories and an equally exciting private life.  The Stirling
Moss Scrapbook 1955, looks at the year in greater detail than any book yet published.  It does
so through the eyes of Moss himself.  This was the year of his Grand Prix win, brilliant victories
in the TT, the Targa Florio and his truly extraordinary Mille Miglia win.  This very large format
book is based on Moss’s own personal scrapbooks, his private diaries and photograph albums.
It is packed with intriguing detail, superb illustrations and newspaper reports from around the
world.  Moss was a man of extraordinary energy. He was one of the first of the jet-setters and
went out with a succession of  ladies. The press loved him and he was rarely out of the papers.
It paints a vivid picture of the fun and flavour of '50's motor racing, spiced with Moss' anecdotes
as told to author Philip Porter.  The Stirling Moss Scrapbook 1955 is the first of a new series of
books based on every year of his career. It is also the first book in the new ‘Original Scrapbook’
series.  The Stirling Moss Scrapbook 1961 will be published shortly. (Claire Bryan)

equipped with a “muffler or exhaust system that clearly has been modified to amplify or increase

legislative session, before being stopped by SEMA in the Senate.  Under the measure, vehicles

noise by virtue of a “visual inspection” was not explained in the bill.  (Jason Tolleson)
