Monterey Pre- Historic and Historic  Automobile Races

August 2000  by Evelyn Roth, Buellton, CA (Snap shot album)

This is from a female's point of view.  First time to the historic races.  My photos are un-touched, sun lines on photos are a tribute to the high polish, sunshine and a camera that shows you both.  I've tried to show you cars, mechanics working on the cars, drivers in some cases, driving on the track , in the paddock, and just being available to show us the public, these wonderful vehicles.   I enjoyed meeting and talking with all of you.  You are welcome to comment on the photos and email those comments - if something is up that you would rather not have up please email me with the problem and I will try and get it corrected or if you know who's car it is and want me to put the name with it just email me:  (evey@oilstick.com)

The photos are taken with a new digital camera  and I had never shot a race before so needless to say I have many photos of the ground, 1/2 cars, etc.  It just goes to show how fast you guys and gals are in those wonderful cars.

Everyone loves your cars. It was fun hearing  the history  story of these cars - each has a personality of its own, sometimes I think the owners knew more about the car than their children.  These cars are loved  and it showed.  The shine on the cars was so high that the camera would pick up the shine and make it be a white line in the photo - I have chosen to leave it in as the amount of photos are massive but, wanted to give you a photo album of snapshots.  I know that I don't have all the cars, some have the mechanics in them and they would try and move out of the way and I wanted them in the photos, along with the visitors drooling , etc.  The poles for the coverings are in them but, that is what it is all about in the pits with these cars... that is what this group of pictures is all about.  They are the snap-shots of the races.  I would see young and old visiting the cars and the look in those eyes was pure love - okay gals and ladies they do love those machines sometimes more than us.

Enjoy them - Page 1   Back  Page 2

Photo was taken leaving the track at the end of the race at Buchanan Field last year, 1999. This was emailed to me - think it is a great shot and tells it all - Yah!
