1) Phyllis Schlafly, the woman best known for nearly single-handedly leading the opposition that killed
the Equal Rights Amendment, sees a sinister and sweeping agenda behind the Security and Prosperity
Partnership of North America.  "Is the real push behind guest-worker proposals the Bush goal to expand
NAFTA into the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, which he signed at Waco, Texas,
last year and reaffirmed at Cancun, Mexico, this year?" she asks. "Bush is a globalist at heart and wants
to carry out his father's oft-repeated ambition of a 'new world order.'"  She accuses the president and
others behind the effort of wanting to obliterate U.S. borders in an effort to increase the Mexican
population transfer and lower wages for the benefit of U.S. corporate interests.  "Bush meant what he
said, at Waco, Texas, in March 2005, when he announced his plan to convert the United States into a
'Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America' by erasing our borders with Canada and
Mexico," she said. "Bush's guest-worker proposal would turn the United States into a boardinghouse
for the world's poor, enable employers to import an unlimited number of 'willing workers' at foreign
wage levels, and wipe out what's left of the U.S. middle class. Bush lives in a house well protected by
a fence and security guards and he associates with rich people who live in gated communities. Yet,
for five years, he has refused to protect the property and children of ordinary Arizona citizens from
trespassers and criminals."  That's unusually harsh criticism of a Republican president from one of
Ronald Reagan's most loyal supporters.    The Reverend    Dear Reverend: Name ONE politician from
any political party that doesn't claim to represent the poor but lives with the walled up rich.  They are all
hypocrites and corrupt political hacks.  History won't help you here.  We are heading towards the Imperium.
Why?  It has to do with power.  Societies cannot exist in a powerless vacuum.  Power keeps order in a society.
When anarchy begins to make headway, such as with the terrorists, individual rights are shed so that authority
can deal with a world that is out of control and disorderly.  That happened in Greece and in Rome's heyday.
We are not immune to the loss of our freedoms.  Once our rights are gone, we will adjust to the modern reality,
just as previous groups were forced to.  To restore those freedoms will mean that each American must rise
above the pettiness and greed that affect us all and look to the COMMON GOOD of our country.
2) The Path to 9/11 (movie) was set in the time before the event, and in a world in which no party had the
political will to act.  The principals did not know then what we know now. It is also indisputable that Bill
Clinton entered office a month before the first attack on the World Trade Center.  Eight years then went
by, replete with terrorist assaults on Americans and American interests overseas. George W. Bush was in
office eight months before 9/11.  Those who actually watched the entire miniseries know that he was given
no special treatment.  It's good to have come to something approaching the end of this saga, whose lessons
are worth remembering.  It gave us, for one thing, a heartening glimpse (these things don't come along
every day) of corporate backbone in the face of phenomenal pressure--and an infinitely more chilling one
testifying to the power and reach of politically driven hysteria. A ripe subject for a miniseries, if ever there
was one.   Cyrus Nowrasteh   Dear Cyrus: The editor agrees with you.  Neither of the last two bozos in the
Oval Office wanted to see the problem and handle it.  They were like the 3 monkeys: SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO
EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL.  They, and their Parties, just wanted it to go away and if they put their head in the sand,
they couldn't hear, see or speak of the evil that was to come.  The POBB has been telling people that for years and
is the reason it will not endorse the Democrats or the Republicans.  It is as if our military, police, fire and intelligence
servants are doing everything to protect us with no help from the politicians.  If Ted "Fat Pants" Kennedy was in
office, do you think he would do diddly to fight terrorism?  No, he would do about what he is doing now, squat
and poop.  Period.  With leaders like these, we are in for hell.
3) Is it true that Liberals refuse to spank their children and that is why they are such brats?  JE    Dear
JE: The editor wouldn't know the answer to your question.  He was a recipient of corporal punishment and his
family came from a household that voted the Liberal ticket.  Your editor is a conservative who doesn't believe,
anymore, in using physical pain to make a child mind, but is not against others using such methods.  Sometimes
one has to use a "presence" to get the attention of out-of-control people.  Policeman do that when they say "out
of the car, NOW," or draw their guns or billy clubs.  There are times when our civil rights just have to take a
back seat to the public safety.  Those times don't last long and when the crisis is over and reason prevails, our
rights are restored, whether we are 3 or 103.  Spanking, hitting or other violent measures indicates that the user
of such tactics believes that the stronger person "is more right than the weaker one."  Is that always true?  On the
other hand, some people, including children, will not reason and the only alternative is to use force to restrain them,
as with the terrorists. All reasoning with them has failed and will always fail, so the authority figures use force. But
that force can be other than hitting or slapping someone.  You can take away their privileges, such as the TV,
cellphone, beds and clothes.  By law you have to provide food, shelter, some clothes and medical care, but you
don't have to give them designer clothes, a bed, fancy French cuisine or anything else.  A few weeks without their
cell phone and clothes "by Goodwill" will bring the most obstinate teen to their knees.  This works with adults and
terrorists as well.  Dubya tried doing that with the detainees in Guantanamo.  However, the battle with the judges
and the ACLU (Brat Inc) will be worse than will be the battle with your angry teenager or murderous terrorist.
4) Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job.     Pete    Dear Pete: Or a politician.
5) Have you paid your taxes......??   21 million illegal aliens are depending on you.  ER   Dear ER: A better
question would be; "How come the IRS isn't going after illegal alien tax cheats and the employers that hire them?"
Why is the government so intent on putting legal, taxpaying, middle income citizens on the hot seat while they let big
businessmen and illegals do whatever the hell they want to do?
