1) I hope you who are interested in McCain for President remember that he is the one who wants to give amnesty to all those Ilegal Invaders.  If he is running, I may vote for Hillary.  That is how strong I feel about his ability - and truthfullness.  He says there are 2 million illegals, but that is just the Criminals that we have in our jails.  You know they will be right back over the fence and in the population again to do more bad things.  It is just a "get out of jail" free card.   You all know I dislike Hillary the cry baby too.  So looks like Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck will be my vote.  Sure wish Fred Thompson could have pulled it off.  But, that is politics.  Ev
Dear Ev: At this point, until we know what will happen in the February 5th super primaries, it is down to two men for the Republican nomination, McCain and Romney.  Of the two, Romney is more anti-illegal alien and anti-amnesty than McCain.  Romney is unlikely to prevail with the GOP as they see him as an outsider and maverick like Ron Paul, except with more money.  Already the party is preparing us to accept John McCain.  Thompson, Huckabee, Giuliani, McCain and others are saying that Romney is deficient as a potential leader.  So unless McCain is caught playing spin the bottle with a ten-year old girl scout, he's going to be your winner.  It's obvious that Obama and Heil-lary are pro-illegal immigrant and support full amnesty.  The Democrat Party is for complete amnesty, at least as it concerns Hispanics, while the rank and file Republicans are against giving lawbreakers the rights of citizenship.  Who's going to win?  The Dumnocrats will win in a landslide and with it the last resistance to amnesty will be removed.  Get ready to welcome the third world to your bedroom.  They're here, they're staying and we're ******.  There's always the American Independent Party that you can support.  They're dull and plodding, but they're honest.

2) snopes.com/horrors/drugs/candymeth.asp.  A very scary thing is going on in the schools right.  There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks.  It smells like strawberry, also and it is being handed out to kids in school yards in Arkansas.  I'm sure it will make its way around the country.  Kids are ingesting this thinking it is candy and being rushed off to the ER in dire condition.  It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.  It looks just like pop rocks.  Please instruct children to not accept candy that looks like this even from a friend and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc.  They call it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.  GF          Dear GF: Parents and grandparents are often buying treats, but do we REALLY know what we are buying?  Some of these treats come from Mexico and China and has been found to contain mercury, lead and arsenic.  It's very scary out there and we have to be alert to what these narcotic monsters are doing to our children.

3) Sample of why we supported Fred's initiative to showcase animals of all kinds on tv, thousands saved over time, ocregister.com/life/ animals-fred-bergendorff-1968573-pet-place.  Sad.  I'm sorry to hear about this. - Nilo         Dear Nilo: The editor never met Fred, but anyone who helps poor, sick and homeless animals must be a very nice person.

4) The world has lost a special person as I have lost a special friend.  My volunteer job with Long Beach Animal Control began with the Pet Place, it was about 18 years ago that the Pet Place was born in Long Beach.  At the same time, the volunteer program at the old Long Beach Animal Shelter was starting up and the Pet Place was my first assignment.  In those days we loaded up 12 animals for the show, 6 in the first segment and 6 in the last.  That went on for quite some time until other shelters started sharing the time.  As the shows went on so did my volunteer responsibilities to where I was the one who chose the animals the day before.  We would then send one to Doggie In The Window for grooming and comb and put bows or bandanas on the rest. We all so appreciated the Pet Place, it was an avenue for helping find homes for the lost and abandoned pets and what was really special, it was FREE to us.  I hardly ever missed a Pet Place taping (probably only five) in all those years and was even filling in for Fred at Charter Communications since his surgery and also when he lived in Las Vegas.  Friends of Long Beach Animals always supported the Pet Place, we all knew how very special it was for the animals to have a program like this.  As Wesley Moore of LBAC said "when Fred started the Pet Place no one else was featuring homeless pets, it was his idea that started news shows and others to feature a pet once a week or daily on their program."  Even though the Long Beach Pet Place is no more, Fred's legacy will live on through other programing and hopefully the KDOC Pet Place will continue for years to come.    Shirley          Dear Shirley: Sorry for your grief.  Fred sounds like a wonderful man.

5) Fred passed away at 11:15 p.m. Sunday at the Kindred Hospital in Brea.  Funeral arrangements are pending.  I know he appreciated all your prayers and blessings.  Fred always spoke of the rainbow bridge and the animals who have crossed over it being happy once again and free from pain, and I would like to think that Fred is looking down on us and letting us know he's feeling whole and good again, and I believe he also knows the legacy of his work to find homes for adoptable animals will go on.  He will always be remembered.  Plans still forming at this hour include editing in a brief tribute to Fred to air on The Pet Place this Sunday.  I will tape it Tues midday at Mile Square Park with Marie Hulett.  Due to KDOC delivery deadlines, it will be brief, but a future episode will devote more time to the legacy of Fred's work with The Pet Place and our hopes and plans to see his life work continue.  Gary

6) "If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter -- and therefore, unsafe."  "When one engine fails on a twin-engine airplane you always have enough power left to get you to the scene of the crash."  "Even with ammunition, the USAF is just another expensive flying club."   #67

7) In Modesto, CA, a man was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. He used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun. Unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket.       BB

8) I'm questioning the Democratic Party's patriotism.  Your loyalty ends with self.  I'm also questioning why you're stealing air that decent Americans could be breathing.  You don't deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform.  You need to run away from this war, this country.   Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through and the country to people who are willing to defend it., No, Mr. President, you don't get off the hook, either.  Our country has two enemies: Those who want to destroy us from the outside and those who attempt it from within.  Your Soldiers are dealing with the outside force.  It's your obligation to support them by confronting the AXIS OF IDIOTS.   America must hear it from you that these self-centered people are harming our country, abetting the enemy and endangering our safety.  Well up a little anger, please, and channel it toward the appropriate target.  You must prosecute those who leak national security secrets to the media.  You must prosecute those in the media who knowingly publish those secrets. Our Soldiers need you to confront the enemy that they cannot.  They need you to do it now.       JDP     Dear JDP: The Democrats are very loyal, to themselves and their interests.  Just because they would sell you down the river to slavers doesn't mean that they are not loyal to their vision of America.  The Democrat's version of America seeks to dethrone Columbus, Washington, Lincoln and the "dead white men," and enthrone in their place as Gods over us, Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez and Teddy Kennedy-like rulers of today.

9) Today's polls show John McCain still poised to win a large majority of the delegates on Tuesday, unless you can reach out to millions of Republican friends, families and acquaintances to correct their incredibly mistaken notion about McCain's immigration positions.  The Washington Post/ABC News poll this weekend asked likely Republican voters which candidate, "regardless of who you may support," do you "trust most to handle immigration issues."  The answer will shock you: 47% McCain, 22% Romney, 10% Huckabee, 5% Paul.  This political illiteracy among Republican voters threatens disastrous consequences.  Some open-borders apologists, such as syndicated columnist Ruben Navarrette, say 47% of Republicans like McCain on immigration because they support McCain's idea that the best way to solve illegal immigration is to make nearly all the illegal aliens into legal residents and U.S. citizens.  That is pure wishful thinking on the part of open-borders advocates. Reputable polls for two years have shown that an overhwelming majority of Republicans (and a majority of Independents and Democrats) has opposed every one of McCain's attempts to legalize illegal aliens with an amnesty.  I believe that at least half of those 47% Republicans who express confidence in McCain's immigration plans simply don't know the truth.   #97          Dear 97: The POBB does not endorse anyone, but we do DENIGRATE them.  So the POBB's official stance is BOO to McCain, BOO to Obama and BOO to Heil-lary.  The Official POBB Denigration list does not include Paul or Romney.

10) "I certainly think the free-market has failed."     Hillary Clinton                  Dear Hill: The editor thinks that you've failed us.

11) Special to the POBB.  Friends of the editor have moved to Cairns, Australia for two years and have been sending back reports of what it is like to live in a Socialist country.  Here is a short report from them.    "Witchcraft and superstitions are believed among some.  Two mothers have actually left with some of their younger children, forget the fact that school started on Tuesday, and will be gone for 4 weeks.  Among their goals is to have the wicked spirits that are trying to take them over be cast out by one of the woman's aunts.  Another single mother has actually left her four children, ages 8-18 alone for three weeks while she pursued her estranged husband in Melbourne with no money.  She had made no preparations for them for starting school at all.  Needless to say, we are not happy with what she has done and the group leader is just waiting her return.  He is a police officer and deals with juveniles and will be slapping a restraining order on her husband who doesn't live with her but demands favors and she gives them!  If the state knew what she had done, she would lose her children."     EM

13) McCain answers every immigration question by saying he will "secure the border" and that "I know how to do it."  But records of his past actions show that he has repeatedly voted against funding the border fence, against funding more Border Patrol, against expanding interior immigration agents. About the only time McCain has backed more security on the border is when it is tied to giving an amnesty.  McCain has held border security hostage for years. He has been willing to work for border security only if Americans pay the "ransom" of giving him an amnesty.  I am willing to accept that McCain is finally serious about securing the border, except that he really hasn't provided a serious, detailed plan for how he will do it.  Read McCain's statements in recent interviews to see how terribly the "straight-talker" zig-zags to confuse voters about his ultimate plan to grant a gigantic amnesty.  McCain laid out his Immigration Plan in radio ads in the South Carolina caucus:  a) "Secure the borders."  b) Deport around 2 million illegal aliens who have committed felonies.  c) Treat the other 10-18 million illegal aliens with "compassion" by letting them keep their U.S. residency and their American jobs and eventually become citizens.    #97

14) Can you believe the nerve of these people? Nine state legislators from the Mexican state of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona's new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico. It seems many Mexican illegals are now returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked.  Now, if California and Texas could just enact the same laws and this country is closing hospitals, parks, schools, etc, because we can’t meet our OWN needs?  #69

15) It does not matter if you personally like or dislike Bush.  You need to sign this petition and flood his e-mail box with e-mails that tell him that, even if the House passes this bill, he needs to veto it. It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone.  If the government gives benefits to 'illegal' aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave those of us who have paid into Social Security all our working lives?  As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow 'illegal' aliens access to Social Security benefits.  Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to that social service.  When the petition hits 1000, send it to comment@whitehouse.gov.   GF         Dear GF: "...they're coming to take your pension away, your pension away, your pension away..."   Never mind good readers, it was just a little ditty the warped editor created to try and be funny.  Guess what?  It wasn't funny.  But seriously, these petitions are just scams.  What isn't false is that your pensions really are being watered down by adding those who have never paid into the system and are simply third-world welfare bums.
