The editor reserves the right to change, amend or
alter the POBB in any way that he sees fit.
Opinions should be approximately seven lines long,
but exceptions will be made.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Editor's notes: A wave of opinions
flooded the POBB today, so a 2nd issue is being sent
out. Keep up the good opining.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Editorial: Some of the recent
opinions have been longer than the seven line
limit. The editor is guilty of this too. The
reasons for the 7-line limit are many; the opinion
becomes redundant, readers won't read long opinions,
space is taken away from others or monopolized. The
seven line limitation is simply a guide. The editor
tries to keep the POBB within a semblance of order.
He does not want to curtail the great thinker or
malign the person who has an opinion that the writer
truly believes in. Here's a suggestion. If an
opinion starts to balloon out of control and the
idea is simply too important to keep to yourself,
cut it into bite size pieces and send it in. You
can start out this way; "About the Federal deficits
in this country..." then end it after 7 lines.
Start a new opinion with "...Another idea about the
deficits is this..." Then finish your opinion in a
3rd paragraph with, "A final thought on the deficit
that is drowning our country..." It is all one
thought and one idea, but doing it that way gives
the editor a chance to run it as 3 separate opinions
in the same issue of the POBB or one a day for 3 or
4 days. The POBBers will pay closer attention to
your idea, because it will be shorter and more
appropriate for our attention spans. Not that
POBBers aren't capable of reading more than 7 lines
at a time, but simply more convenient for us all.

1) "Never trade luck for skill."
"Airspeed, altitude and brains. Two are always needed
to successfully complete the flight." "Mankind has a
perfect record in aviation, we never left one up
there!" #67
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) At Lake Isabella, located in the high
desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to
boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried,
they couldn't get their brand new 22-foot boat going. It was
very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power
they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they
putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be
able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check
revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran
fine, the out-drive went up and down and the propeller was the
correct size and pitch. One of the marina guys jumped in the
water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was
laughing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in
place, was the trailer! BB Dear BB:
But for the Grace of God, do we all forget to unhitch the boat
trailer at least once in our lives.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) "I think it's time to send a clear
message to what has become the most profitable sector in the
entire economy that they are being watched." Hillary Clinton Dear
Heil-lary: And YOU are the very person to watch them
and maybe have a gold coin or two drop into your purse while you
are at it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Special to the POBB. Friends of the editor
have moved to Cairns, Australia for two years and have been
sending back reports of what it is like to live in a Socialist
country. Here is a short report from them. "Nathan (a
young man they are teaching ESL classes to) starts his English
classes in February but has read the lesson book and done many
of the exercises just for practice. He came over the other
night and we went over some of the problems. They are over my
English head, I tell you. But he completely keeps us laughing
and entertained. His manner of speech and anecdotes are so
unique to him. He keeps up on world events and after talking
all about Africa, etc he started in on Bush. He said that Bush
is up and down like a new bride's nightie. Horsburgh is still
struggling and in and out of the hospital. He has to spend the
night in the hospital to keep his bed but he wants to go
home." EM Dear EM:
Interesting, in socialist countries if you go home from the
hospital you might lose your place in line for a bed. What do
they do, make you wait in a line outside the hospital with your
injuries until there's a place for you? Aah, the beauty of
socialized medicine. You've GOT it, but you just can't USE it.
Heil-lary, the American people want your wisp of smoke and
mirrors, so give it to them. That's the only way they will
learn.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) McCain never expresses compassion
for the 23 million working-age Americans without any college
who do not currently have a job -- or the millions more
Americans whose real wages have stagnated or declined in
recent years because their occupations were flooded by
foreign labor. Although the nation already has nearly 40
million foreign workers and dependents, McCain has
repeatedly said that we need to import even more. During the
last two years, he has pushed various bills that would
double and triple immigration. Look at all of McCain's
pro-amnesty votes. McCain has worked against American
workers and helped greedy businesses procure foreign labor.
McCain's whole abysmal history of failing to protect our
national security at the borders and our economic security
at the workplace. There must be a growing movement of
Stop-McCain voices nationwide. We must slow down the McCain
bandwagon and show positive possibilities on Tuesday.
Anti-amnesty Romney has moved ahead of pro-amnesty McCain in
California (37%-34%), according to a brand new
Reuters/C-SPAN/ Zogby poll. #97 Dear
#97: It won't matter whether McCain loses to
Romney, the entire Republican Party is in disarray and will
be swept away in a flood of Democrats in November. The best
that we can hope for is that there will be just enough
Republicans with enough BACKBONE, to fillibuster away 8
years until the GOP has another, decent shot at the White
House in 2016. However, since the GREAT/GREAT DEPRESSION
that the editor projects to occur will happen in 2019, that
means that the GOP, if they win in 2016, will be branded as
the Party of Losers for another Century or two.

6) A delegation of nine state
legislators from Sonora was in Tucson to say Arizona's new
employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the
Mexican state. At a news conference, the legislators said
Sonora - Arizona's southern neighbor, made up of mostly
small towns - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and
schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return
to their hometowns without jobs or money. The law, which
took effect January 1, punishes employers who knowingly hire
individuals who don't have valid legal documents to work in
the United States. Penalties include suspension or loss of
a business license. They're pissed off because their own
citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a huge
burden on their state government. This lady has some serious
balls: They want to tell them how the law will affect
Mexican families on both sides of the border. "How can they
pass a law like this?" asked Mexican Representative Leticia
Amparano Gamez, who represents Nogales. "There is not one
person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or
relative working in Arizona," she said in Spanish. "Mexico
is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems" it
will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and
sending money to their families return to hometowns in
Sonora without jobs, she said. "We are one family, socially
and economically," she said of the people of Sonora and
Arizona. #69 Dear #69: The
editor is weeping such huge tears for the sad and sorrowful
people of Sonora that he has run out of hankies. The good
in all of this is that he used reusuable hankies and no
trees or spotted owls were harmed in the process.

7) Who was the first President of the United
States? George Washington would be the most likely response to this
question, but ponder these facts: The United States Declared its
independence of Britain in 1776, yet Washington did not take Office
until thirteen years later, on April 30, 1789. So who was running
the country during these initial years of nation? The answer: The
first eight U. S. Presidents. John Hanson was the first President
of the United States, whose place in history is nearly lost. Our new
nation came into being on March 1, 1781 when the The Articles of
Confederation were adopted by the Continental Congress. The
Articles were proposed on June 11, 1776, but Congress could not
reach final agreement on them until November 15, 1777. Some states,
like Maryland, refused to sign this document until Virginia and New
York ceded their western lands (Maryland feared these states would
gain too much power in the new government because of the large
amount of land they controlled). Once final agreement was reached
and the signing took place in 1781, a President was needed to run
the country. John Hanson was chosen unanimously by Congress (George
Washington was a member) as the first president. In fact, all the
other potential candidates refused to run against Hanson because of
his significant role in the revolution and in the Continental
Congress. Since no one have ever been President, the role was
poorly defined, so Hanson's actions set many precedents for the
future presidents of our country. Hanson took office just as the
Revolutionary War ended. Almost immediately, the troops demanded to
be paid. There were no funds to meet the salaries. As a result, the
soldiers threatened to overthrow the new government. All the members
of Congress shirked their responsibility, leaving Hanson to deal
with the problem. He was able to calm the troops and hold our nation
together in the critical days after its birth. Had he failed, the
fledgling government would have fallen almost immediately and
history would, perhaps, have an entirely different story to tell.
Hanson, as President, ordered all foreign troops off American soil, as well as the removal of all foreign flags. This was quite a brave and daring feat, considering that so many European countries had a stake in the United States since the days following Columbus' discovery of America. Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States, which all Presidents have since used on all official documents. President Hanson also established the first Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department. Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November would be Thanksgiving Day. The Articles of Confederation only allowed a President to serve a one year term during any three year period, so Hanson actually accomplished much is a very short period of time. Seven other presidents were elected after Hanson: 1. Elias Boudinot (1782-83), 2. Thomas Mifflin (1783-84), 3. Richard Henry Lee (1784-85), 4. John Hancock (1785-86), 5. Nathan Gorman (1786-87), 6. Arthur St. Clair (1787-88), and 7. Cyrus Griffin (1788-89) - .....all prior to Washington taking office. One of the reasons we never hear about these first eight presidents is because the Articles of Confederation did not work well. Individual states had too much power, so a new doctrine, the U. S. Constitution, was hammered out, painfully, to strike a power balance. Thus, George Washington was the first President of the United States to serve under the Constitution, but clearly not the first to serve our new nation. Considering that it took 8 years to establish successful government in the United States, is it entirely reasonable for the Iraqi's to get theirs off the ground and running smoothly in a shorter time, when the world is far more complex? BR
Dear BR: This was interesting, but a little long.
Since you are a first timer, the editor will allow it. Technically,
these eight men were President OF THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES
OF AMERICA. They were NOT the President of the United States of
America. They were not elected by the people of the confederated 13
states, but by the delegates of the assembled representatives. They
chose one of their own to PRESIDE over them. They were not LEADERS,
elected by the people, but PRESIDERS, hence, ergo...Presidents, but
not Presidents.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) Murphy's Lesser Known Laws; The 50-50-90
Rule. If you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right,
there is a 90% probability you will get it wrong. ER
Dear ER: There's a 50 -50 chance that John
McCain will lose by 90% of the vote in the general election.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9) While most polls show McCain with a wide lead nationwide, the latest overnight Rasmussen poll shows the race much narrower with McCain at 33%, Romney at 29% and Huckabee at 21%. Romney crushed McCain in the Maine caucuses today, despite both Senators endorsing McCain. McCain (97) now holds only a narrow lead in delegates over Romney (92), with Huckabee (29) and Paul (6) following (based on the CNN count). Former Justice Department official Kris Kobach has joined the Romney campaign, providing more assurance of its commitment to driving illegal aliens back home. Attorney Kobach has been a hero around the country assisting localities (such as Hazelton) in enforcing immigration laws. Mike Huckabee has signed the Immigration Pledge of Senator Sessions (R-Ala.), our staunchest ally in the Senate. #765 Dear #765: Paul, Keyes or Romney would make a fine president, but they are party outsiders like Pat Buchanan. Even if they go far, the country DESERVES a President that represents them. Paul, Keyes and Romney are good and moral men. They certainly don't represent the average spoiled, hedonistic, me-me-me Americans of today. Hillary in a walkover.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10) Senator McConnell, It is such a
shame that the Republican Senate and President George Bush,
squandered the Republican Majority by not passing the
"original" House bill on immigration and sealing the
southern border. Had you done this simple, act, you would
have smooth sailing through the last and the next election.
As it is, you will lose even more seats in 2008 and Hillary
is the next President of the United States of America. Hang
on Senator, it's going to be a rough ride! I have donated
Thousands of Dollars to the Republican Party, that is all
lost now. Sincerely, BD Dear BD:
The editor makes an unashamedly appeal to disaffected
Republicans asking them to join him in the American
Independent Party.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11) Is Senator Barack Obama that
uncommitted to the United States? Who would want him for
our President if he will not even show the honor to our
country and flag? Obama? I don't think so! A picture is
worth a thousand words. God save us! Senator Barack Obama,
Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth
Harkin stand during the national anthem. He refused to not
only put his hand on his heart during the pledge of
allegiance, but refused to say the pledge, how in the hell
can a man like this expect to be our next
Commander-in-Chief? BB Dear BB:
The editor has not checked out your photo or your
statement. It appears that Obama has forgotten to put his
hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. This
isn't mandatory of course and many people don't do that for
many reasons. Some Jehovah's Witnesses refuse the flag
salute. Some people simply are mentally preoccupied and
forget. Some are disloyal bastards who only care about
********* their neighbors for all they've got. Or the photo
could be faked. Whatever the situation, it's your photo and
your opinion. POBBers, any comments?

12) Brutus is a military K9 at
McChord. He's huge - part Boxer and part British Bull
Mastiff and tops the scales at 200 lbs. His handler took
the picture. Brutus is running toward me because he knows I
have some Milk Bone treats, so he's slobbering away! I had
to duck around a tree just before he got to me in case he
couldn't stop, but he did. Brutus won the Congressional
Medal of Honor last year from his tour in Iraq. His handler
and four other soldiers were taken hostage by insurgents.
Brutus and his handler communicate by sign language and he
gave Brutus the signal that meant "go away but come back and
find me." The Iraqis paid no attention to Brutus. He came
back later and quietly tore the throat out of one guard at
one door and another guard at another door. He then jumped
against one of the doors repeatedly (the guys were being
held in an old warehouse) until it opened. He went in and
untied his handler and they all escaped. He's the first K9
to receive this honor. If he knows you're ok, he's a big
old lug and wants to sit in your lap. Enjoys the company of
cats. #103 Dear #103:
Brutus can have an extra Milk Bone at my house anytime he
wants. Kudos.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13) In reply to BD. You have
misunderstood what I was trying to say. I realize that a
national health care system here would be the wrong answer;
all it would do is raise the costs more than it is now
because the government can't run anything with
responsibility, morality, fairness, or in any way form or
fashion financially sound etc....... I was responding
mostly in a sarcastic way because compared to what we have
now (and I realize that it does not apply to all, but keep
in mind that it does apply to a very large amount of people
if not the majority of the population of this country), what
you described was so much better than what we have now. I
was only trying to convey that across. Of course you have
to realize something here and that is that in this country,
money buys anything and those that have it have an entirely
different life, rights, medical care.... you name it than
those that don't. (So much for we are all born equal) Now
here's the distinction. There are those that are poor
because they have chosen to be lazy and simply don't care.
Getting drunk with their friends is more important than
building a sound financial house or simply too lazy to work;
this is their right to do and choice to make. These people
have no right to bitch then when things don't go their way
and funds are short. Then there are the group of us that
tried...... We went out and got a trade or education to get
a good job and make a productive contribution to society to
make life better for all. We worked hard and busted our
asses at work trying to make an honest living and get ahead
with promotions to give our families a better life. We did
everything right just as we are told to do and actually
started to build a good financial house for our families and
became respected in work and the community. AND BAMM Under
no fault or control of our own we get hurt at work; (in my
case total negligence on the part of Xerox). Then workman's
comp steps in and refuses to provide medical care needed.
As a result we become disabled and cannot work again,
totally at the mercy of bureaucracy who's only interest is
to screw you to the wall. That's where it is wrong,
immoral, illegal... you name it. Every right guaranteed
under the constitution violated etc.... That's where I'm
coming from and it's about time this country looks at this
injustice and straightens it out. And please don't think
for a minute that I would support either Hillary or O'Bama.
O'Bama comes from a totally different culture than we do and
for that reason alone he is not a good candidate to run our
country, not counting the stories of his real back ground
and hidden agendas. And Hillary, and believe me I would not
have believed myself if I didn't hear her say it on TV,
myself with my own ears, it was to the effect that - The
American people are to stupid to know what is good for
themselves, so we are going to have to make all the
decisions for them to protect them and in return they are
going to hand us all their rights. - How can anyone in their
right mind support these people unless of course they are
that stupid and need a mother to protect them and dictate
their every move. This year I guess I'll be voting again,
as I do most years because we have no one worth while
supporting (only greedy wealthy selfish asses who's only
interest is to rape this country of it's resources for their
personal interests) and I'll vote for Bugs Bunny or Pat
Palson depending my mood that day. BUHO
Dear BUHO: The editor concurs with you. Workmen's
comp and other government programs were set up to INSURE the
working man against uncertain times and accidents, not to
give freeloading 3rd world illegals a good life. We PAID
into these programs, but there's nothing left for us,
because our government spent it on importing cheap labor
illegally.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14) McCain is the favored and anointed son
of the Republican Party and many Republicans will vote for a
Democrat in November because of it. Hillary will win with over
60% of the popular vote telling her she has won by a landslide
and anything she wants, she will get. We are in for a very rough
ride if you work for a living and make a decent wage, or have
money saved. If you have any savings at all buy gold or silver,
it is the only way to preserve your wealth. An old beat up gold
coin from Egypt will still buy what ever you need today. Try
that with some old paper currency. In 1929, you could purchase
a very nice suit of clothes for either a US $20.00 gold
piece of the $20.00 federal Reserve Note, today you can still buy the nice suit of clothes for the US $20.00 gold piece, what will the $20.00 Federal Reserve Note buy, maybe the tie? Vote Ron Paul for a return to sound money. BD Dear BD: As close to an endorsement that the POBB will give out is their Anti-Denigration list. As we speak, there are only 3 who have made the list; Ron Paul, Alan Keyes and Mitt Romney, all financial conservatives and border guarders. The other politicians are simply suck-ups. The editor owns his fair share of moose pasture (gold mines). Should the dollar drop, it is safe to say his moose droppings will rise in value, if not absolutely reek.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15) Dere Mr. Parkes, Stop beating yershelf
overt the hed because you goofed. We all make mistokes once in
awhale. Nobudy's perfact. As Ted Kennedy would shay, "I
propose a toast to the ole' redactor!" ES
Dear ES: How did you know the ol' redactors surname was
spelled with an E at the end in the old country? See, you got
it correct even when you didn't intend to. The editor salutes
you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16) For GF: Truly, I really don't care if
they take my Social Security away---I've got a plan. I'll give
whatever I own to my kids, dispose of credit cards, driver's
license, S.S. card and any other I.D., then cross the border
into Mexemerica (I mean Mexico), surreptitiously sneak back into
America (if it's still that) and since I speak Italian, Spanish
will come easy. I'll flutter my big blues eyes, limp a little,
make sure my white hair is stringy, wear tattered clothes, holey
(not religious) shoes and then you, sillies, I will have
everything free, free, free. Whoopee, I get to be a third world
bum. What a great country America is. Rory
Dear Rory: SIGH, the editor is being satirized and he
needs to be. You are correct, not all third world immigrants
are welfare bums. Many are hard working and come here legally.
What the editor meant to say and what he did say did not
coincide. Immigration, legal and illegal, is a thorny issue.
Many countries are being torn apart, it just isn't America that
is suffering. In Southern Mexico the native Mexicans are
complaining about illegal aliens from El Salvador and
Guatemala. Europe is being overrun by Africans and Arabs
looking for peace, work and freedom, then these immigrants
become zealots and want to destroy all Christian religions and
their freedoms. South Africa and Botswana are being overrun by
Zimbabweans, fleeing for their lives from the good and
benevolent Liberal supported Mugabe. It's a sorry, sorry world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
17) Where are the candidates you are voting
for on this issue. My kids and grandkids didn't get a good
education because we were farting around with the ILLEGAL's
language, no art, sewing, shop, car repairs, etc, that they
should have been learning. What about the History of this
country? They are rewriting it, for the Liberal's and Illegal's
favor. E Dear E: The candidates you
are referring to are busy sipping Mai Tais brought to them by
their illegal alien maids and barking out orders to their
illegal alien gardeners.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18) Boy, am I confused. Listening to the
Partisan 'politicals,' I have been hammered with the propaganda
that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is
bankrupting us. I now find that to be ridiculous. Included the

confused.
